Fifth Arab Regional Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction
- English
Hosted by the Government of Morocco, the Fifth Arab Regional Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction will be organized under the theme “From Risk to Resilience: Accelerating Local Action for Disaster Risk Reduction” from 8 to 11 November 2021.
Following the success of the Africa-Arab Regional Platform on Disaster Risk Reduction, and building on the outcomes of the sixth session of the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction in 2019, the Fifth Arab Regional Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction will be organized by the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR), Regional Office for the Arab States (ROAS), in collaboration with the League of Arab States (LAS) and hosted by the Government of the Kingdom of Morocco.
The UNDRR (ROAS) will call upon UN agencies and international NGOs to lead side sessions in the Fifth Arab Regional Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction to lead the discussion on how to accelerate local action for disaster risk reduction.
Regional platforms bring governments and stakeholder together to raise the political commitment around disaster risk reduction, identify common priorities and challenges to address; periodically assess progress on implementation throughout the region; strengthen partnerships, share good practices and knowledge on disaster risk-informed policies, Programmes, and investments, including on development and climate issues, as appropriate; and promote the mainstreaming of disaster risk reduction across all sectors. They are associated with a multi-stakeholder consultation process to foster an inclusive and all-of-society approach to disaster risk reduction at the regional level, including through the Arab Partnership for Disaster Risk Reduction.
Registration is now open.
